10.27.08 Marilee Brothers, author and former teacher at Davis High School in Yakima, Washington, visited the Davis Library to talk about her newest novel, Moonstone. Ms. Brothers entertained students during three one-hour presentations and wowed members of the Davis English department, as well as fledgling student authors, with her off-beat sense of humor as she talked about how to get published. Davis High School librarian Lynne Greene said the students were fascinated as Ms. Brothers introduced Allie Emerson, the fifteen-year-old main character of Moonstone, who struggles to keepher act together in the small town of Peacock Flats, Washington. Theywere particularly taken with Allie's dippy guardian angel and laughedout loud at the realistic dialogue. "We purchased ten copies of Moonstone and all ten books are in constant circulation," said Ms. Greene. "My students are already bugging me about the next in the series."
